When You’re Brilliant—and the System Still Comes for You (Part I)

The Freeze Response: Your Owl isn’t weakness. It’s a system override trying to protect you.

You’re Not Broken. You’re Brilliant—And the System Is Rigged.

Here’s your regularly updated Burnout Prevention Weather Report

Let me ask you something:

Do you FREEZE in conflict? Raised voices? Unsolicited criticism?

Do you collapse when it’s time to set a boundary or say NO?

Then you might be in my Circle of Owls.
Freeze-type. System shutdown. Smile on the outside, wildfire on the inside.

This week’s podcast breaks the whole pattern down. Step-by-step. Science-backed. And FAST.

Not sure if you're an Owl?
Take the quiz. It’ll take you sixty seconds.

Because once you find your dominant Burnout Survival Archetype—Owl, Lion, Deer, or Fox—
you’ll see your exhaustion in a whole new light.
And then?
You’ll finally be able to do something about it.

Because this part? The survival instinct that’s been hijacking your peace?
It’s not weakness.
It’s not failure.
It’s not brokenness.
It’s your instinct trying to protect you.

You’re not remotely broken. You're not getting stuff wrong. You don't get to go there. You’re upstream. You’re adapting.
Your brain did exactly what it was supposed to do. That’s not broken. That’s brilliant.

Once you understand that—
it becomes leverage.

And that is the beginning of your burnout prevention strategy.

Let me tell you a story.

She did everything right.
Graduated with honors. Got the certifications. Took the unpaid internships.
Said yes to the resume-padding projects. Mastered the resume-building acronyms.
Showed up polished, qualified, and ready.

She landed the job.
The ONE job in her field.
In the only city hiring.
She should’ve been overjoyed.
But instead, she was walking into a rigged system with a storm pattern already forming.

And she didn’t even know it.

That’s the trap:
The modern storm system doesn’t look like a threat.
Not at first.

HR smiles. Onboarding is smooth. The first month is quiet.
But in the breakroom? Something’s off.
The water cooler pause. The slight delay in praise. The confused looks when she speaks with clarity.
She can’t quite name it.
So she assumes it’s her.

She thinks she something might be wrong with her. Maybe she just can't get it right like other people can. broken. But she’s not.
She’s walking into a system that wants her to believe she is.

It’s not her.
It’s the system.
And the system doesn’t play fair.

This is the first violence:
She walks into a system built to erase her—subtly, but relentlessly. A container not made for her.

'Bob from Accounting' and his enabling sidekick/henchman 'Larry in Logistics" were already brewing.
Bob didn’t get the promotion.
Larry didn’t get the cubicle.
And now they’ve begun their 2PM two-man-huddled-around-the-urinal shadow whisper campaign of resentment and discontent.

The coffee machine is broken? She must’ve broken it.
She refilled the toner? She’s trying too hard.
She answered the question no one else knew? She’s a threat.

And so it begins.

This is the hidden pattern no one’s naming.
This is how women with purpose are slowly, systematically dismantled.
Not by overt aggression.
By covert erosion.

They don’t get thrown out.
They get slowly beaten up. Weathered down.

Then comes the second violence:
When she falters—predictably—they say she just couldn’t handle it.
They blame the symptoms of her trauma as evidence of her incompetence.
That’s the double violence.

Now let’s talk Aristotle.

He said every system needs two things:
Form—the container. Matter—the thing that moves.

The body is form. The breath, the organs, the heartbeat—that’s matter.
A city is form. The people, the markets, the stories—that’s matter.

A human being? Full of matter. Purpose. Movement.
A statue? Still made of atoms. Still enclosed. But no purpose. No breath.

So what’s the difference?
Purpose.

And what happens when a living human—full of purpose—walks into a rigged container where her very existence generates resistance?
Where her presence is politicized?
Where no one tells her the rules because no one wants her to win?

She slowly loses purpose.

And when you lose purpose, you lose everything.

That’s burnout.

Not laziness. Not lack of mindset. Not mental weakness.
Burnout is the end result of purpose being chipped away by systems that don’t want women to thrive.

They call it burnout. But it’s not. It’s erasure.

They call her broken. But she’s not. She’s brilliant—and the system is scared of that.

But here’s what I know:

If it’s forecastable? It’s preventable.

That’s what my STORM System Strategy™ does.
It gives you the map.
And it teaches you to fly.

We don’t fight the storm.
We rise above it.
We get the AERIAL VIEW.

That’s where you meet your Lion. Your Deer. Your Owl. Your Fox.
You don’t fight them. You name them.
You thank them.
And then you manage them.

Because your Owl isn’t sabotaging you.
She’s whispering: “Don’t move. Don’t breathe. They’re coming.”

Because your Lion isn’t dramatic.
She’s roaring: “Fight.”

Because your Fox isn’t fake.
She’s dancing: “Fawn.”

Because your Deer isn’t scattered.
She’s whispering: “Evacuate.”

These instincts aren’t your enemies.
They’re your emergency broadcast system.

They’ve been trying to save you.

So now you’ll name them.
Snuggle them.
Love the parts of you you’ve been taught to hate.

Because no one loves you like your Owl.
And no one will fight for you like your Lion.

That is the pivot.
That is the power.
That is how you become unburnoutable.

You’re not broken. You’re brilliant.

You were just caught in a storm.
And now?
You have the map.
