Private Acting Coaching | Children, Teens & Adults

For the Stage - and every stage of life.

The Hornes Studio | Kerrville, Texas

Private coaching is focused, one-on-one training designed to accelerate growth in ways a group room cannot.

Each session is structured around the actor’s current material, skill level, and goals. We work directly with text, behavior, and rehearsal discipline — not abstract exercises.

This is technical, specific work.

What Private Coaching Is For

Private sessions are appropriate for:

  • Production rehearsal support

  • Audition preparation

  • Competitions, UIL prep for divisions such as storytelling, one-act, duet, speech, debate, etc.

  • Scene refinement

  • Monologue development

  • Confidence rebuilding after a difficult experience

  • Focused technical correction

The work adapts to age and level, but the standards remain consistent: preparation, clarity, repetition, and accountability.

For Children (8–13)

Young actors learn how to:

  • Break down a script in clear, simple steps

  • Understand what their character wants

  • Speak clearly and stay present

  • Take correction well, and apply it

  • Build unshakable confidence through preparation - not outcomes

Sessions are structured, age-appropriate, and focused. Growth comes from steady skill-building, not praise alone.

A parent or guardian remains onsite per studio policy.

For Teens (13–17)

Teen actors work on:

  • Text analysis and intention

  • Relationship and partner responsiveness

  • Physical specificity

  • Vocal control and pacing

  • Audition and competition material

We build discipline and ownership. Teens learn how to prepare independently and perform with clarity rather than nerves.

For Adults

Adult actors receive:

  • Direct, precise notes with constructive feedback & correction. Not criticism

  • Structured scene or monologue analysis

  • Technical adjustment in voice and physical behavior

  • Blocking clarity

  • Performance consistency

  • Relationship building

Private coaching is especially useful for adults returning to the stage, preparing auditions, or refining roles during production.

How Sessions Work

Each 50-minute session includes:

  • Warm-up tailored to the material

  • Focused work on selected scenes or monologues

  • Direct feedback

  • Immediate application and repetition

  • World-building homework to strengthen and deepen the imagined character’s story and experience.

If something is unclear, we stop and correct it.

Progress is measured by repeatable improvement — not one good run.

Packages & Scheduling

Private coaching is available year round:

  • As individual sessions

  • In multi-session packages

  • As a monthly membership retainer

  • As production support blocks during active rehearsal cycles

All sessions are scheduled through The Hornes Studio calendar.

Who This Is For

Private coaching is best for actors who:

  • Want concentrated, uninterrupted attention

  • Value structure and accountability

  • Prefer direct feedback over general encouragement

  • Are preparing for something specific

This is not drop-in help.

It is disciplined, individualized training.
